Project Goal
To provide a one-time life-saving dose of Octagam to 27 children with chronic illness.
Project Background
Many children in Armenia suffer from severe neurological, rheumatological, hematological, and immunological conditions that require Octagam – a life-saving intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) medicine. Derived from donated human plasma, Octagam provides ready-made protective antibodies that regulate abnormal immune responses. It is often the only way to stabilize a child’s condition so further treatment can begin.
Although the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia provides this medication for certain diseases, significant gaps remain – particularly in emergencies where medication must be administered within hours. In these urgent moments, the Health Fund for Children of Armenia (HFC Armenia) steps in to ensure no child is denied treatment. Without this intervention, the extremely high cost of the medication makes it inaccessible to most families.
Each year, HFC Armenia provides Octagam to around 40 children, closing a critical, life-threatening gap. Now, in partnership with our donors, Ayo! aims to supply this vital medication to as many children as possible. This project will remain open throughout 2026.
Note
Octagam is provided by the Ministry of Health for the treatment of the following conditions:
Primary immunodeficiency
Neurological disorders (Guillain–Barré syndrome)
Kawasaki disease
