Project Goal

To install heating at the Mariane Center for women and kids in Ashtarak

Project Background

The “Saint Mariane” Social-Educational Center in Ashtarak, operated by the Aragatsotn Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, is the city’s first and only center of its kind. It supports vulnerable families in Ashtarak and nearby communities through social support, community development, and environmental protection programs.

The center works with entire families, conducting needs assessments and offering solutions through home visits. It focuses on developing the skills of women, children, and youth, helping them build healthier, more dignified lives and become active members of society. Additionally, it promotes spiritual growth, community involvement, and solidarity around the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Services are provided through group activities, individual sessions, and home visits, with a key focus on helping women, especially single mothers and young girls, acquire new professional skills.

However, due to a lack of heating, the center has not been able to hold classes during the winter months, limiting its impact. The current reliance on electric heaters that are turned off at night leaves the center uncomfortably cold, putting both the progress of programs and the safety of the building at risk. Installing a heating system will provide a comfortable and safe environment for the center to continue its vital work throughout the year.
