Project Goal
To install heating at the Mariane Center for women and kids in Ashtarak
Project Background
The “Saint Mariane” Social-Educational Center in Ashtarak, operated by the Aragatsotn Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, is the city’s first and only center of its kind. It supports vulnerable families in Ashtarak and nearby communities through training programs in English, social media marketing, handicrafts, accounting, hairstyling and more. There are also opportunities for spiritual guidance and direction from the local priest and his wife.
The center works with entire families, conducting needs assessments and offering solutions through home visits. It focuses on developing the skills of women, children, and youth, helping them build healthier, more dignified lives and become active members of society.
However, due to a lack of heating, the center has not been able to hold classes during the winter months, limiting its impact. The current reliance on electric heaters that are turned off at night leaves the center uncomfortably cold, putting both the progress of programs and the safety of the building at risk. Installing a heating system will provide a comfortable and safe environment for the center to continue its vital work throughout the year.
